Ulagalla; situated in the ancient kingdom of Anuradhapura, right in the centre of the Cultural Triangle and birthplace of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. Hidden away in the quiet village of Thirappane, this luxurious resort features a sprawling 58-acre estate nestled among two sparkling reservoirs, lush green paddy fields, and ponds sprinkled with lilies.
The hamlet of Thirappane is on the main Dambulla-Anuradhapura route (A9) approximately 40km north of Dambulla. Uga Ulagalla is a further 2km inland from the turn off at Thirappane junction. The resort is approximately 160km from the Bandaranaike International Airport and 176 km from Sri Lanka’s commercial capital Colombo and can be reached through Dambulla or through Puttlam via Anuradhapura town. The shortest route is via Dambulla and directions to our Anuradhapura hotel are given below:
Route to Uga Ulagalla from the Bandaranaike International Airport via Dambulla
- Exit the airport and enter B208 and head towards Minuwangoda. At Minuwangoda town, turn left on to B11 which will then join with B322 – the Negombo-Giriulla road.
- At Giriulla, take right towards B308 and head to Narammalla.
- At Narammalla, take right towards Kurunegala and take the B247.
- At Kurunegala, take the A6 towards Dambulla and then take the A9 towards Anuradhapura by turning left at the Mirisgoniya junction (the A6 and A9 run parallel from Dambulla to Mirisgoniya junction).
- Keep on the A9, passing the Kakirawa junction and Maradankadawala junction towards the TirappanePolice station.
- Take the first right after the Police station and continue for approximately 2km to Uga Ulagalla on the Athungama ( Uga Ulagalla) road.

The District of Anuradhapura in the North-Central Province is blessed with warm sunshine almost throughout the whole year. April is the warmest month and is also the month that ushers in the Sri Lankan New Year, where the resort’s gardens can be seen in full bloom.
Cooler climes can be experienced from November to January. The southwest monsoon holds sway from April to October, transforming the landscape and providing a whole new perspective to the surroundings. The weather at our Anuradhapura luxury resort is otherwise warm throughout most of the year.
